For the most part, using the Vertuo Next is the same as other Vertuo machines. They are all compatible with the same capsules and programmed with the same cup sizes.

The biggest difference is its Bluetooth/WiFi connectivity which allows for future updates. This might give you machine extra time of use as Nespresso unveils new features. VertuoPlus does not have Bluetooth, nor Evoluo.

Other than that, if you currently own a Vertuo machine that works just fine then keep it. There’s no need for the upgrade. However, if you’re new to Vertuo machines, Vertuo Next is the perfect machine to start with.

Design:

Design wise, and apart from the obvious difference in looks, Vertuo Next has been made partly from recycled materials. Which is great for the environment, but to be honest, makes it a bit less sturdy that its counterparts.

The Brew head on the VertuoPlus is motorized, so which a press of the lid opener, it automatically opens and shuts. On the Next, however, it’s manual. Which isn’t a huge problem, and piecing the pod does not require that much force, but it does feel ‘clicky’ sometimes. The Evoluo has the same closing/opening mechanism, yet it feels sturdier than the Next.

Carafe Brew Size:

Vertuo Next has an exclusive brew size that none of the other Vertuo machines have, and that’s a Carafe pod size. This pod brews 18 oz capacity and is available in two variations: pour-over style and pour-over style mild.

Unlike the other capsules which are sold in a set of 10 capsules per sleeve, the carafe pods are sold in a set of 7 capsules per sleeve. Nespresso sells a cool set that includes a double-walled glass carafe, stirrer, and two sleeves of pods.

Can Vertuo Next Make Iced Coffee?

Nespresso Vertuo Next vs. VertuoPlus vs Evoluo - Top Differences

Yes, just like any Nespresso machine can. You have to keep in mind though that no machine, Nespresso or other, will brew the coffee cold or iced. What you’ll have to do is brew your coffee over ice. However, Nespresso does have Over Ice capsules specially formulated to taste better when added to ice.

Is There Reusable Vertuo Next Pods?

There are a few 3rd party options that I don’t personally recommend or would use. I understand the need to save on Capsules expenses (this is coming from me, a person who drinks several pods per day, believe me, I understand!). But these pods are not recommended for several reasons:

  • they’re made from horrible materials (either hard plastic or stainless steel), which you can imagine the harm it can cause to your machine.
  • I do believe that reusable pods take from your Nespresso experience. Filling up the pod and washing it, not always filling the right amount or the right coffee grind, can result in a bad cup of coffee.

Vertuo Next Breville vs. DeLonghi, What’s The Difference?

Nespresso Vertuo Next vs. VertuoPlus vs Evoluo - Top Differences

If you’ve seen several Nespresso Vertuo Next (as well as other models) branded by Breville or DeLonghi, and you got wondering if there’s an actual difference between them, the answer is no, not technically.

Pictured above, both Vertuo Next and VertuoPlus. What you’ll notice is only some minor design differences. One of the brands will offer a number of colors, and the other will offer another set of colors. For the VertuoPlus, you’ll notice that Breville offers the rounded top while DeLonghi has the flat top.

None of these difference will affect the way the machine work or the coffee produced. So, simply, pick your favorite design and color regardless of the brand.

How To Change the Cup Sizes on a Vertuo Next

You don’t! That’s because the machine does it for you, automatically. If you use an Espresso pod, the machine will recognize it and brew the exact espresso amount. Same for every pod of every size.

If you want to resize or brew half a pod for any reason, simply press the brew button at any moment you want the brewing cycle to stop.

What Is Nespresso Vertuo?

Nespresso, makers of single-serve espresso makers have two main line of products: OriginalLine and Vertuo line.

OriginalLine machines, such as Lattissima machines, CitiZ, Pixie, Creatista and Essenza, are designed to make espresso and espresso based drinks only (cappuccino, latte, macchiato and more).

Vertuo machines (VertuoPlus, Evoluo) are designed with a special technology patented to Nespresso that allows them to brew espresso as well as coffee. Unlike other machines, Vertuo machines don’t use a pump or drip mechanism to brew espresso/coffee, instead, it uses Cetrifusion technology, which spins the coffee capsule rapidly while saturating them with water to produce a flavorful cup.
