Nespresso Vertuo pods are completely different from other pods.

They are larger, dome-shaped, and have a barcode around the rim to allow the machine to recognize the brew size for the pod.

If you have a Vertuo machine, you can only use Vertuo pods that you can buy from Nespresso’s online store, Amazon store, or physical stores.

If you want pods from another brand, the only one available is from Starbucks Coffee, which is a licensed collaboration between the two brands. No other brands are allowed to make Vertuo pods just yet.

Another small pod that gets mistaken for a Nespresso pod is the Dolce Gusto pod.

The reason for this mix-up is the fact that Dolce Gusto comes from the same parent company, Nestle, and the pods look like they can fit.

But the truth is, Dolce Gusto pods are a different shape and they won’t work on any Nespresso machine, Vertuo or Original.

One of the best things about Vertuo machines is their ability to brew up to 4 to 6 serving sizes, depending on the model you choose.

Each one of these serving sizes has a different pod. So, Vertuo uses several pod sizes, however, the shape of the pod remains the same.

For every cup size, the pod’s dome is slightly higher to allow it to hold more ground coffee. But the diameter of the pod remains the same, so all of them fit the machine perfectly.
